Our annual meeting in Birmingham 2026 was a huge success with close to 400 attendees. The wide range of topics was widely appreciated, as was the ice-cream, which helped to mitigate the unusually hot weather. Fifteen travel grants were awarded for ECI members to attend the meeting. At the meeting, several awards decided by the International Council of ISHR were given, including the Distinguished Leader Award to Thomas Eschenhagen the Keith Reimer Distinguished Lecture given by Mike Murphy. The ISHR-ES Ketty Schwartz Award Lecture was presented by Gianluigi Condorelli. The ISHR-ES Medal of Merit was awarded to Karin Sipido. Twelve awards were given for best poster presentations.
